Meet Martin Haigh, MBE, the founder of Lattitude7, a learning and development company dedicated to empowering individuals and businesses. Lattitude7 were awarded a Queen's Award for Enterprise in Promoting Opportunity.
Martin’s dedication to personal growth extends beyond the boardroom. He's completed marathons and the ultimate test of endurance: the Ironman triathlon. These feats are even more inspiring when you consider he uses them to raise significant funds for charities.
Your Company: Our company is Lattitude7, a learning and development business in West Yorkshire focusing on personal development, team development and business process excellence.
We provide interventions in presentation skills training, leadership development and lean six sigma business process improvement. 30% of our work is pro bono CSR and our Queen’s Award was granted in the ‘Promoting Opportunity’ category as we have changed the lives of many young people by improving their socio-economic situation.
Your passion: My favourite way to unwind is through running, cycling and open water swimming. I combine these sports into triathlons which I enjoy immensely.
Podcast Pick: My inspirational podcast would have to be Carl Sagan’s appearance on Desert Island Discs. I am riveted by Sagan’s description of the cosmos, both in his TV series and the book of the same name. He had a unique way of explaining difficult philosophical concepts in an easy way to help the audience understand and comprehend and when I look up into the night sky I often wonder what is really out there.
Proud Accomplishment: Alongside my Queens’s Award I am delighted to have completed an Ironman Triathlon. I trained for six months to improve my swim time to meet the cut-off and spent many hours on my bike, regularly covering over 100 miles at a time. I raised £2,000 for SCOPE in the process.
Skill to Learn: I have owned a piano for a few years but not mastered many tunes. I would like to make some time to focus on this and feel comfortable with learning and playing tunes.
